Stettler RCMP received a complaint at about 6:20 p.m. that a distressed male had holed himself up with a firearm in the 5900 block of 50th Avenue.

Stettler police, joined by members of the Red Deer, Edmonton, and Calgary Emergency Response Teams and the Red Deer Police Dog Service, evacuated neighbours and surrounded the suspect’s residence until about 10:10 p.m. when a 57-year-old Stettler-area male turned himself over to police custody.
