Strike/lockout at Symphony seniors home postponed as talks resume

Alberta Union of Provincial Employees and Symphony Senior Living have mutually agreed to postpone all job action at Symphony Senior Living Aspen Ridge in Red Deer until Monday.

AUPE announced its nearly 130 licensed practical nurses, health care aides and other staff would strike today at 1 p.m. Symphony also served AUPE with a lockout notice effective today at 1 p.m.

Now the union and employer are holding meetings this afternoon in an effort to resolve the dispute before seniors care is affected.

AUPE members at Aspen Ridge will be informed of the outcome of these talks in a meeting this evening

Symphony, a privately owned and operated seniors care facility located at 3100 22nd St., has 152 suites with a total of 157 residents.
