Suspect in custody, investigation ongoing after body found in Samson Cree nation

A suspect has been arrested for murder by police investigating the discovery of a man’s body on a roadside in the Samson Cree nation. Maskwacis RCMP were notified at about 7 a.m. on Tuesday that an unresponsive man estimated to be in his 50s was found lying on the side of the road.

Maskwacis RCMP were notified at about 7 a.m. on Tuesday that an unresponsive man estimated to be in his 50s was found lying on the side of the road.

The man was pronounced dead by an emergency medical crew called to the scene.

An autopsy was to be performed on Wednesday to determine the cause of the man’s death.

While police have a suspect in custody, further investigations are being completed before charges are formally laid. The suspect and victim’s names have not been released pending swearing of the charges.
