A man was taken into custody after an RCMP negotiator convinced him to throw out a gun from his motorhome at the Open Creek Campground, around 35 kilometres west of Rimbey, Saturday.
No RCMP officers or members of the public were harmed during the incident.
Cpl. Wayne Oakes, a media relations officer with the RCMP, said police first received a call at around 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. He said a man made a request that the RCMP attend his campsite, suggesting that they would know who he was.
Oakes said it wasn’t felt the public was at any risk during the incident.
He said charges are pending against the man. His name will not be released until charges are laid.
