Three charged after city youths assaulted, robbed

Three teens have been charged after a group of youths were assaulted and robbed on Friday outside a Red Deer school, say Red Deer city RCMP.

Three teens have been charged after a group of youths were assaulted and robbed on Friday outside a Red Deer school, say Red Deer city RCMP.

Shortly before 4 p.m. on Friday, police were called out to a report of a robbery that took place near St. Thomas Aquinas School in the 9800 block of 39th Street.

Some youths were walking when they were approached and accosted. The school principal followed the suspects on foot so he could let police know where they were, said RCMP spokeswoman Const. Sabrina Grunow.

Police say two 15-year-old victims sustained minor injuries.

A 16-year-old Red Deer male, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was remanded and will appear in Red Deer provincial court Wednesday on charges of robbery, failing to comply with recognizance and two counts of breach of probation.

A 16-year-old and a 14-year-old, both of Red Deer, were released and will appear in court July 22 on one count of assault each.

Police also arrested an 18-year-old man and a female, age 15. hey were both released without charges.
