Starting on Thursday, the intersection of 49th Avenue and Ross Street will be closed from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. to continue the asphalt repairs within the intersection (the work will proceed rain or shine).

Following this work, on Saturday, the intersection will again be closed from 6 a.m. to noon for asphalt removal as the second phase of concrete crosswalks are installed for Veterans’ Park. The intersection closure is required to manoeuvre materials and equipment in the very tight work site and will also proceed rain or shine.

Once this work is complete, the traffic control signs and barricades will be shifted for the second phase of the project. The second phase of work will reduce traffic flow on both Ross Street and 49th Avenue to a single lane and increased traffic congestion is expected. Weather dependant, it is expected that concrete will be poured for the second phase of the crosswalks by Tuesday.

It is anticipated that all lanes of traffic will be reopened by June 20. The contractors will be taking all necessary steps to get the work done in a safe and timely manner, and the patience and co-operation of motorists is appreciated.
