Innisfail RCMP and Canadian Pacific Railway Police are investigating a collision between a truck and a train that occurred four km north of Innisfail on Sunday afternoon.

Innisfail RCMP responded to the injury collision at an uncontrolled railway crossing at Township Road 362 and Hwy 2A around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday.

The eastbound pickup truck was struck by the northbound CPR train and was carried for approximately 500 metres along the track.

No derailment happened as a result of the collision and all train cars remained on the tracks.

The 24-year-old male driver of the truck, from Springbrook, was transported by ambulance to the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre with non-life-threatening injuries. Innisfail RCMP said the weather was clear and sunny at the time of the crash and alcohol was not a factor.
