Blackfalds RCMP say they expect to lay more charges after two men were arrested on drug-related offences.

Police say they executed a search warrant Friday at two Blackfalds residences, where several people were arrested and items were seized.

Police had executed a search warrant almost a month earlier at one of the addresses, where several people were arrested, but no charges were laid.

Gerald Allan Tonner of Blackfalds is now charged with a number of offences, including possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking as a result of the second search.

Darren Christopher Ray of Bentley is charged with possession of methamphetamine, along with failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance.

Both men have been remanded in custody awaiting their bail hearings.

Several other people were found inside the residences.

“Some of these persons had outstanding arrest warrants and were subsequently arrested and brought before a justice of the peace,” said Blackfalds RCMP in a release Tuesday evening.

“This matter is still under investigation and further charges will likely be laid in the near future.”
