Two men stabbed at downtown convenience store

Two men were stabbed after a fight broke out amongst five people outside a downtown convenience store early Thursday morning.

Two men were stabbed after a fight broke out amongst five people outside a downtown convenience store early Thursday morning.

Just after 3 a.m., Red Deer city RCMP responded to a complaint of a tussle in the parking lot of the 7-11 store on Ross Street and 47th Avenue.

A 43-year-old man had sustained multiple stab wounds while a 24-year-old was also stabbed. Both men were taken to Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre with serious injuries.

Police arrested a 20-year-old man from Red Deer and two men from Wetaskiwin, aged 19 and 25.

As of early Thursday afternoon, the men were still in police custody. No charges had been laid.

The General Investigation Section continues to investigate.

Police were providing no further details.
