Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre has welcomed two newly recruited physicians to provide care to residents of Red Deer and area.

Dr. Eghosa Egharevba is working out of Ebenezer Medical and Walk-in Clinic in Red Deer and Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, where she will be providing comprehensive primary care, low-risk obstetrical care and hospitalist coverage.

Dr. Nikhil Goyal is working in the emergency department at the Red Deer hospital, where he will provide specialized care in emergency medicine.

“We are excited to welcome these exceptional physicians to our local care team. This is great news for the city of Red Deer and the surrounding region, as both doctors will play a significant role in providing access to acute and emergency care for our residents," said Minister of Primary and Preventative Health Services Adriana LaGrange, and Red Deer-North MLA, in a statement.

“It is good to see medical professionals coming to Red Deer to serve families and individuals in our wonderful community," said Red Deer-South MLA Jason Stephan.

Dr. Egharevba received her medical education in Nigeria and practiced in Drumheller and Camrose before coming to Red Deer. Individuals seeking a family physician can call 403-346-1533 or visit ebenezarclinic.ca to arrange a meet-and-greet appointment. Twelve physicians now practice out of Ebenezer Medical and Walk-in Clinic.

“The hospitality I have received, along with the city’s many amenities and beautiful scenery are what interested me in coming to Red Deer,” said Dr. Egharevba, whose hobbies include cooking, reading and travel.

Dr. Goyal received his medical education in India and the U.K., and worked in Singapore and the U.K. prior to coming to Red Deer.

With the addition of Goyal, there are now 21 regular emergency medicine physicians practicing at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.

“I have always wanted to work in Canada, and Red Deer seemed like the perfect place to move with my family, especially because of its convenient proximity to both Edmonton and Calgary,” said Dr. Goyal, who enjoys travelling and discovering new places during his free time.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) continues to recruit physicians across the Central Zone to meet community needs. AHS has physician resource planners who are dedicated to identifying and pursuing international and domestic physician recruitment opportunities. They work closely with various community partners and organizations, such as the Rural Health Professions Action Plan, and independent physician recruitment and retention committees.
