United Way Central Alberta celebrates 2024 fundraising campaign

$1.7 million raised throughout the year

United Way Central Alberta raised more than $1.7 million through its annual fundraising campaign in 2024.

Supporters and community leaders celebrated the success of the 2024 campaign at Bo's Bar and Stage on Monday, April 7.

"This year's campaign is a testament to the local love and care we have within our community," said Chelsea O'Donoghue, United Way Central Alberta CEO.

"Despite ongoing economic strains and uncertainties, people, workplaces and small businesses have shown remarkable commitment to supporting those who need it most. This campaign proves that when we come together, we can make a positive difference in our communities here in Central Alberta. We are so grateful for your support."

The 2024 campaign raised more money than the year prior. The funds raised will go towards strengthening partner agencies delivering vital programs, fuelling responsive project grants to help grassroot organizations make an impact, and bolstering United Way programming to ensure supports are accessible to individuals and families throughout Central Alberta.

"The generosity of our donors advances the work of our Community Impact Strategy," said Darren Lamothe, United Way Central Alberta board president.

"United, we are making a difference in local lives, by focusing on both long-term solutions to complex issues and meeting the evolving needs of our community."

In a media release, United Way Central Alberta highlighted how the 2024 campaign wouldn't have been possible without the hep of volunteers.

"We are deeply thankful to our volunteers. They mobilize our fundraising efforts, shape our community investments and build deep local connections," said O'Donoghue.

"As we look ahead, we invite Central Albertans to share their time and talent with United Way to help create meaningful change in Central Alberta."
