Vehicle crash west of Nordegg leaves one dead, four injured

One man is dead following a single-vehicle crash west of Nordegg that sent four others to hospital late Monday night.

One man is dead following a single-vehicle crash west of Nordegg that sent four others to hospital late Monday night.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded around 11:37 p.m. to a call of a rollover on Crescent Falls Road. RCMP believe the driver may have lost control of an extended cab truck before it rolled over a deep embankment and crashed against a tree.

The female driver and two other passengers were taken to Rocky Mountain House Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Another male was airlifted by STARS air ambulance to a Calgary hospital in critical condition.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt. The deceased male in the back seat was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the vehicle was believed to be following another vehicle, which fled the scene before the RCMP arrived.

The collision is still under investigation and no names will be released until the next of kin is notified.
