Nearly 500 volunteers, from a variety of Central Alberta organizations, gathered for the National Volunteer Appreciation Week Dessert Gala held at the Capri Centre. The Friends of the Volunteer awards were also presented with the individual honour going to Shirley Gibson while the business award winner was Rob Doughty of Van Houtte Coffee Services.
