Water restrictions imposed after a line break have been lifted in Three Hills, Trochu and Kneehill County.

Water restrictions imposed after a line break have been lifted in Three Hills, Trochu and Kneehill County.

Residents and businesses were asked to reduce their water usage on Wednesday so as not to drain the town’s reservoir.

Town of Three Hills reported on Thursday morning that the reservoir was back up to 75 per cent capacity and thanked residents in both towns and surrounding Kneehill County for their co-operation.

Residents were told there may be some clarity issues with water because of the potassium permanganate used in water treatment to control taste and colour. It was stirred up as the reservoir was refilled.

The harmless additive will soon settle out. In the meantime, residents can run taps for five to 10 minutes to clear their lines.

Bulk water stations in Three Hills and Trochu will reopen on Friday.

Trochu’s splash park will reopen on Friday and lawn watering can resume on an odd-even day system.

Residents are asked to watch their water use through the weekend so as not to draw down the reservoir.
