A Blackfalds welder and artist will have two of his metal artworks on display at the Calgary Stampede Western Art Showcase until Saturday.

Doug Taylor is in his second year of competition at the Metal Arts showcase.

This year his entries are in the non-traditional forging.

The first, called Runaway, is a three-dimensional work in steel and copper of an out-of-control chuckwagon pulled by four horses.

The second, named Mighty Chief, is a steel and copper offering of an Indian face and full headdress.

Taylor is a welder by trade for an oilfield steel fabrication business.

His two pieces will be on display at the Stampede’s Western Art Showcase in the BMO Centre until early Saturday when it will be moved to the Palomino Room for the Metal Art Showcase and Auction at 7 p.m.

The showcase is open to anyone already with admission to the grounds.

Complimentary tickets are available by emailing metalartshowcase@calgarystampede.com or by contacting the Stampede’s agricultural administrative office at 403-261-9174.
