Westerner Park is looking for a partner to become the new sponsor of the Centrium.
The home of the Western Hockey League's Red Deer Rebels, as well as the site of many other events, has been known as the Peavey Mart Centrium since 2021.
Peavey Industries Industries LP announced last week the closure of its 90 Peavey Mart locations after obtaining an initial order for creditor protection under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act from the Court of King’s Bench Alberta. Following this news, Peavey Industries and Westerner Park decided to dissolve their agreement.
In a media release on Wednesday, Feb. 5, Westerner Park acknowledged the recent announcement of Peavey Mart closing all its locations across Canada and highlighted "the significant impact this will have on our community."
Peavey Mart became the naming sponsor of the Centrium in 2021, which Westerner Park describes as "a partnership that has helped create lasting memories for thousands of Central Albertans."
The support extended beyond their name on the building, the Westerner Park media release states, adding that Peavey Mart embraced the Central Alberta community by participating in activities during Westerner Days and supplied essential items to help bring events to life.
“Our partnership with Peavey Mart exemplifies the kind of meaningful relationships that can have a lasting impact,” said Shelly Flint, CEO of Westerner Park.
“While their closure is undoubtedly a loss for the community, we are grateful for the support they’ve provided over the years and remain committed to finding the right partnerships to continue serving Central Alberta.”
Even though the Centrium's name will soon change, Westerner Park will continue to operate as usual. This includes hosting events and attractions, as well as finding ways to connect with the community.
“Whether it’s collaborating on events outside of our grounds or encouraging our team to participate in local initiatives as volunteers, our focus remains on strengthening our ties with the people and organizations that make this region so vibrant,” Flint said.
Westerner Park states it is actively seeking businesses and organizations that "share a vision of fostering growth and connection within the community." Parties interested in exploring partnership opportunities are encouraged to reach out to the organization.
