Woman charged in drowning death of young boy

A woman has been charged following a police investigation into the death of a six-year-old Rocky Mountain House area boy who drove a quad into an open septic lagoon and drowned last fall.

A woman has been charged following a police investigation into the death of a six-year-old Rocky Mountain House area boy who drove a quad into an open septic lagoon and drowned last fall.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP Cpl. Chris Matechuk said the boy, who just turned six, was visiting a friend near Rocky and drove into the lagoon that was in close proximity to the house.

The incident occurred Oct. 8, 2010 at 2:20 p.m.

Amanda Ledieu, 34, was charged with failing to provide necessities of life for a child under age 16.

She is scheduled to make her first appearance in Rocky Mountain House provincial court on Nov. 23.
