Woman jailed in connection with stabbing in Red Deer

A young woman from a First Nations community west of Cochrane remains behind bars in connection with an alleged stabbing on Wednesday morning in downtown Red Deer.

A young woman from a First Nations community west of Cochrane remains behind bars in connection with an alleged stabbing on Wednesday morning in downtown Red Deer.

Red Deer city RCMP report the 23-year-old from Morley, whose name hasn’t been released, remains in police custody. Criminal charges have not been laid at this time.

The woman was arrested following reports of a fight between two people inside an apartment on 48th Street. A 32-year-old Red Deer man was stabbed a number of times and was taken to Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre for treatment.

He was later released and placed in police custody.

Police said the man has since been let go.
