Alberta became the first jurisdiction in Canada on Monday to include milk and liquid cream containers in a regulated deposit-refund system. For containers one litre and under, the deposit will be 10 cents. The deposit for containers over one litre will be 25 cents. Only marked containers like the one being held up by Gallardo “Larry” Bombase of the South Hill Bottle Depot, that are identified by “AB DEPOSIT” will be eligible for the refund. Containers bought before that date will not be accepted for a refund, but can still go into your regular blue box for recycling.
