A 15-year-old boy who allegedly pulled a knife on an RCMP officer at the Collicutt Centre has been charged.

Police were called to the Collicutt Centre about 9:50 a.m. Thursday after a complaint was received that a youth banned from the building had returned. The ban was among conditions related to an April 8 incident.

An RCMP school resource officer arrived and soon spotted the youth. When the officer went to arrest the youth it is alleged he resisted and pulled a knife. The officer stepped back and took out his gun. The youth dropped the knife and followed the police officer’s orders to lie on the ground. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The youth, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with one count each of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, resisting arrest and failing to comply with conditions.

He is slated to appear in Red Deer provincial court April 21.
