Exelta Club captures five medals

The Red Deer Exelta Gymnastics Club captured five medals in the all-round competition at the women’s artistic Alberta Southern Zones championships during the weekend.

AIRDRIE — The Red Deer Exelta Gymnastics Club captured five medals in the all-round competition at the women’s artistic Alberta Southern Zones championships during the weekend.

Hannah Bilsborrow placed second in the provincial level 5 open class while Taylor Plante was second in the provincial 2 open.

Bilsborrow, who qualified for the Western Canadian champions at the end of April, won the vault, was second on the uneven bars, sixth on the beam and eighth on the floor.

Plante won the beam and was fourth on the vault, bars and floor.

Molly Hall-Jarratt (provincial 3 tyro), Keara Slimmon (provincial 2 argo) and Summer Littlechild (provincial 1 novice) finished third overall.

Hall-Jarratt won the floor exercise, placed third on the vault, fifth on the beam and sixth on the bars while Slimmon was second on the bars, fourth on the floor, fifth on the vault and seventh on the beam.

Littlechild took second on the floor, third on the bars, fourth on the vault and fifth on the beam.

Tahlysa Hanson was seventh in the provincial 1 argo division as she was third on the bars, sixth on the beam, seventh on the floor and ninth on the vault.

In provincial 2 argo, Casey Patsula was sixth and Ruby Butler seventh.

Patsula placed fifth on the beam, sixth on the bars, seventh on the floor and 10th on the vault while Butler was third on the bars and vault and eighth on the floor.

Sydney Rix came fifth in the provincial 2 tyro class as she was third on the beam and floor.

Sydney Larsen finished 11th and Mataya Rideout 13th in the provincial 3 tyro division.

Larsen was seventh on the bars and floor and Rideout ninth on the floor.

Kaelan Hayter placed fourth on the vault, sixth on the floor, seventh on the bars and eighth all-round in the national open category.

Hanson, Littlechild, Patsula, Butler, Slimmon, Rix, Plante, Hall-Jarratt and Larsen all qualified for the provincials, April 21-22 in Edmonton.
