CALGARY — The Red Deer Rebels perfect pre-season finally came to an end Saturday night in Calgary.

The Rebels (3-1-0) boasting a prospect heavy lineup ran into a roster of veteran Hitmen (3-1-0) and were blasted 5-2.

After trading goals in the first period, the Hitmen took a 4-2 lead through 40 minutes and capped it with a shorthanded tally with 42 seconds remaining in the third period.

Colten Mayor and Chad Robinson scored for the Rebels while Bolton Pouliot let in two goals on 25 shots and Dawson Guhle surrendered three on 16 in the Red Deer net.

Brady Brassart, Alex Gologev, Justin Kirsch, Cody Sylvester and Nathan MacMaster did the damage for the Hitmen. Mike Snider stopped six of the seven shots he faced while Brandon Glover made 11 saves on 12 shots for Calgary.

The Rebels finished 0-for-four on the power play while the Hitmen went three-for-six with the shorthanded goal.

Red Deer’s next game is Friday when they host the Edmonton Oil Kings (2-2-0) at 7:30 p.m. in Lacombe.
