Queens 3 NAIT 2

The RDP Queens won their ninth straight Alberta Colleges Athletic Association women’s hockey game Saturday night.

Hosting the NAIT Ooks, the Queens edged out a 3-2 victory thanks to a 39-save performance from third-year goalie Izzy Palumbo.

Queens rookie Rylee Mepham opened the scoring just under six minutes into the game, before the Ooks responded with a pair of tallies later in the frame.

Third-year Alli Soyko tied the game unassisted at 10:54 of the second and Kyla Hansel notched the game-winner 1:48 into the third for the home side.

Palumbo had 11 saves in the first, nine in the second and then 21 in the final frame to secure the victory.

The Queens take on the Olds College Broncos on Thursday, Nov. 23 in Olds, before closing out the home and home on Friday night in Red Deer at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre. Puck drop for both games at 7 p.m.
