RDP Kings volleyball win national title

It's the first title for the Kings since 2017

The RDP Kings won their first match at the CCAA Men's Volleyball National Championship.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings are back on top of the Canadian college volleyball mountain. 

The Kings swept their way to the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Volleyball National Championship title Saturday night, winning in three sets over the Douglas Royals (25-19, 25-17, 25-18).

Colby Nemeth led the way for the Kings with nine kills and three aces in the championship match. After the match, Nemeth was also named tournament MVP. 

Owen Langberg and Brett Lower also had a strong match, each with six kills. Setter Brett Theise had 25 assists in the victory. Lower and Langberg were named first-team tournament all-stars. 

Royals outside Marvin Tumusiime had a match-high 15 kills. 

RDP did not lose a set at Nationals and was the number 1 ranked team in the country heading into the CCAA Championships. 

The Kings last won a national title in 2017, they also won in 2016 and 2014. This year was their first final since 2019.
