The Sylvan Lake Wranglers are hoping to cap off an impressive Heritage Junior B Hockey League season in style.
Sylvan Lake is the number one Junior B hockey team in the country and knocked off the Red Deer Vipers in three games to win the North Division final and advance to the HJHL final over the weekend.
The Wranglers opened the series with a 4-3 win in Game 1, before winning 12-3 in Game 2 and closing out the series with a 6-3 victory. Xiaden Bignell had two goals in the series-clinching victory, while Maddex Bignell added a goal and an assist. Hayden Motowylo, Owen Callow and Brody Pearson also had goals.
Maddex also sits second in HJHL playoff scoring, with 13 points in six games. Aydden Shaw has also had a strong playoff run with three goals and 10 assists in six games.
The Wranglers are set to take on the Carstar Okotoks Bisons in the best-of-five final. The series starts Friday in Sylvan Lake, with puck drop set for 8 p.m. Game 2 is Sunday in Okotoks, with Game 3 back in Sylvan Lake on March 25 at 8 p.m. Okotoks is ranked 35th in Canada, according to MyHockey Rankings.
