There’s nothing like the taste of traditional family recipes when you’re looking for authentic food.
You can find such old-world traditions in Red Deer, being served up daily by the husband-and-wife team of Mike and Elpis Dimos and their family at Dino’s 2 for 1 Pizza and Pasta.
If you like the idea of fresh, locally purchased ingredients, old-world care and attention to detail and the feeling like you’re part of an extended family, you’ll find it at Dino’s, says Helen Dimos-Oris, Mike and Elpis’ daughter and a key part of the team here.
“We don’t see our customers as just as a customer,” Helen says. “We like to get to know them, get to know their name. We really value that relationship and that bond we can build with people.”
Different location, same family values
In moving from their downtown Red Deer restaurant after 29 years to a convenient location at 32nd Street and 49th Avenue six years ago, Mike and Elpis brought along their Greek family recipes and menu items, as well as the philosophy for friendly service. The longtime core team also includes Helen’s husband, George Oris and cook Dean Callaghan.
“We all enjoy what we do, we care about the quality and we care about customer service,” Helen says.
While the location may be smaller than their downtown digs, they continue to provide you with a wide variety of food options, from tasty appetizers and salads to gourmet and traditional pizzas, pasta dishes and other entrees.
Supporting the community that supports them
Whether it’s providing meals for parents of sick children who are staying at nearby Ronald McDonald House, or working with schools or sports teams, the Dino’s family maintains its connections to the community.
“We’re always willing to help out in any way we can,” Helen says, adding they have a soft spot for struggling families. “Whatever they need, we’re there for them.”
