Rides, food, friends and Westerner Days entertainment – this summer’s must-attend event is just weeks away.

But beyond fun, the fair builds community and generates significant economic benefits.

“Recognizing the importance of this great event, Individuals, organizations and local businesses unite at Westerner Days. We welcome nearly 100,000 visitors and generate over $7 million gross economic impact throughout the Red Deer area,” says Shannon Penny, Westerner Park Marketing Manager.

Community is at the core of this favourite event:

We All Play: Recognizing not everyone can afford to attend Westerner Days, “We All Play” provides complimentary admission and parking to Central Alberta families otherwise unable to attend. Thank you to NOVA Chemical and their charity of choice, Family Services of Central Alberta, and Stantec and their charity, Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre.

Share the Fair – With sponsors Olymel, North American Midway Entertainment workers and event entertainers take their shows to kids at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre and Central Alberta Ronald McDonald House July 20, “Sharing the Fair” with children unable to attend.

Morning of Faith – 90.5 Shine FM continues this Westerner Days tradition, a no-charge non-denominational service at 11 a.m. on July 23. Speaker Jason Caldwell, father of twins Jordan and Even, who were lost in the tragic tobogganing accident at Calgary’s Olympic Park, explores how faith brought stability and hope in face of loss. Attendees can stay and enjoy the afternoon at the fair.
