The Westerner Days Fair & Exposition is bigger and better than ever for 2019, and you’re invited to join the fun!
In fact, there are more ways than ever to get involved in Central Alberta’s largest summer celebration, July 17 to 21.
Here are 4 favourites:
1. Host an off-site event: “Community spirit is such a big part of Westerner Days and an awesome way to get everyone involved,” says Ashley Nelson, Marketing and Communications Assistant Manager at Westerner Park.
Pick up an Ambassador Package for your off-site event, featuring discounts for decorations and window painting, Westerner Days swag, ready-to-go decorations, a mention on the Westerner Days website and more. And these community events raise more than community spirit – last year more than $23,000 was raised for local not-for profits!
2. Be a Best-Dressed Business: The local business community also gets into the Westerner Days spirit by decorating their storefronts and offices. Simply register for the Best-Dressed Business Contest to receive your Ambassador Package, then decorate your business during Westerner Days and have your team sport their best Western attire. The winning business will receive Westerner Days 2019 gate admission passes for their staff, plus bragging rights for the entire year!
3. Volunteer: The recently expanded Westerner Park brings even more opportunities to get involved in a way that works for you! Of the approximately 300 volunteers who help the park hum, more than 150 are directly involved in Westerner Days – everything from Box Office or Kids Corral Ambassadors to foot traffic volunteers at the Parade.
Why volunteer? Beyond being part of this amazing community event, swag includes a t-shirt, two Westerner Days tickets, Grub Hub discounts, parking pass, and the opportunity to explore the festivities before or after your shifts! You’re asked to commit to three four-hour shifts through the course of the week – visit westernerdays.ca/volunteers to learn more, and mark your calendar for this year’s volunteer orientation, scheduled for 5 p.m. July 9 in the Harvest Centre.
“We regularly hear how much our volunteers enjoy being part of the event – seeing the families have fun, helping bring the community together, and just enjoying the atmosphere,” Nelson says.
4. Get #Social for a chance to WIN! From businesses and off-site event hosts to volunteers and guests, everyone is encouraged to share their Westerner Days “Instagrammable Moments” by sharing with #MyWDExperience. You’ll even be entered to win a $2,500 voucher for Red Deer Airport. Need a little inspiration? Look for the photo-ready art installations set up onsite.
