KAMLOOPS, B.C. — A 15-year-old boy has been charged with assault in connection with a machete attack on two 18-year-olds in Kamloops, B.C.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Grant Learned says the older teens were slashed and stabbed outside an apartment building, possibly in retaliation for an earlier incident.

He says one of the victims suffered head injuries and remains in hospital in serious but stable condition.

Learned says the age of the suspect is disturbing and that he was not known to police.

He says the boy was picked up in the community of Anahim Lake on Sunday in relation to the attack on April 23.

The boy, who can’t be named because of his age, is scheduled to make his first court appearance on May 19.
