VICTORIA — Search crews are scouring the area between Anchorage, Alaska, and Whitehorse, Yukon, for a missing plane with two people on board.

Capt. David Burneau, with Victoria Search and Rescue, says the male pilot and female passenger were in a small Beechcraft airplane when they disappeared.

The plane left the Anchorage area last night and was expected to be landing in Whitehorse a few hours later.

Burneau says the pilot filed a flight plan saying he would arrive in the Yukon capital at 8:30 last night, and an hour later Victoria Search and Rescue was alerted that the plane was overdue.
