FERNIE, B.C. — The driver of a Greyhound bus involved in a head-on crash that killed a woman on a B.C. highway remains in hospital as the RCMP investigate what happened.
The crash happened early Saturday on Highway 3 between the communities of Fernie and Sparwood when a car crossed the centre line and slammed into a bus, killing the car’s driver.
The RCMP have yet to release the victim’s name, but have said she was a 34-year-old woman from Cowley.
The driver of the bus and a passenger were transported to hospital with serious injuries, although police have said little else about their condition.
Cpl. Annie Linteau of the RCMP said on her Twitter account Sunday that the bus driver remained in a Calgary hospital in stable condition.
The police also haven’t speculated about what may have caused the crash, and Linteau says there will be no further updates in the next few days.
Six passengers were on the bus, which was bound for Creston, B.C., from Calgary.
