WINNIPEG — An infant boy in Winnipeg remains in serious but stable condition after being hit in the head during what police believe was a domestic dispute.

Police allege the boy was in his mother’s arms when the woman and her common-law husband were arguing on Saturday.

In a sworn statement, police allege the man swung a golf club shaft, striking the infant.

Police have laid charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon against 23-year-old Daniel Ross.

Ross is also accused of violating a court order not to contact the woman, and was already facing a similar charge laid in August.

The incident happened in Gilbert Park, Manitoba’s largest public housing complex with close to 1,000 tenants.
