A Regina man who has a history of night terrors and sleepwalking has pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing his male lover in the middle of the night.

REGINA — A Regina man who has a history of night terrors and sleepwalking has pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing his male lover in the middle of the night.

William Fayant, 24, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for manslaughter in the death of Danny Matheson, 40, more than two years ago.

Court heard the two were in a casual sexual relationship when it happened.

Fayant says he doesn’t remember that night and doesn’t know why he did it.

His lawyer told court Fayant has a history of night terrors, sleepwalking and panic attacks and had nightmares that people were trying to break into his home so he slept with a knife by his bed.

Fayant had no criminal record and no history of violence.
