Queen’s visit to Canada confirmed for 2010

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are set to visit Canada next summer. Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean confirmed the mid-2010 visit in a statement Sunday.

OTTAWA — The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are set to visit Canada next summer.

Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean confirmed the mid-2010 visit in a statement Sunday.

But details on where the Queen and Prince Philip would stop, the length of their trip and the exact arrival date are still up in the air.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper had invited the Queen during a visit to Buckingham Palace last April.

“It is always a high honour to host a royal visit,” Harper said

These will be the first major visits of the Royal Family to Canada since the Conservatives took office.
