Recount confirms Conservative Opitz elected

OTTAWA — A judicial recount has confirmed the election of the Conservative Ted Opitz in the Toronto-area riding of Etobicoke Centre.

OTTAWA — A judicial recount has confirmed the election of the Conservative Ted Opitz in the Toronto-area riding of Etobicoke Centre.

Elections Canada says the final tally shows that Opitz defeated Liberal incumbent Borys Wrzesnewskyj by 26 votes.

Opitz received 21,644 votes on May 2 to Wrzesnewskyj’s 21,618.

The recount does not change the standings in the new House of Commons.
