Two men dead after light plane crashes near Saskatoon

A flight instructor and a student have been killed in the crash of an ultra-light plane south of Saskatoon.

SASKATOON — A flight instructor and a student have been killed in the crash of an ultra-light plane south of Saskatoon.

The aircraft was found in a field Tuesday morning.

Police say the victims were a 28-year-old man from the Moose Jaw area and a 56-year old male from Saskatoon, but no names are being released.

The flight instructor’s family contacted police when the plane did not return on schedule Monday night.

A military search-and-rescue Hercules was sent from Winnipeg to help in the aerial search.

Transport Canada and the RCMP are investigating.
