Unsuccessful would-be robber picked up while trying to escape on Vancouver bus

An alleged robber in Vancouver went from bus passenger to busted on Wednesday night.

VANCOUVER — An alleged robber in Vancouver went from bus passenger to busted on Wednesday night.

The 27-year-old was arrested on a city bus when he was picked up by police.

Vancouver police allege the man, who is wanted on several Alberta warrants, was using transit to make his escape following two heists.

Investigators believe the suspect had tried to rob a grocery store cashier minutes earlier.

When the cashier screamed and ran away without providing any money, they say the robber walked to a nearby gas station, apparently pulled a knife and grabbed some cash.

He was spotted jumping on a southbound bus as it pulled up outside the gas station and officers recovered a knife and some money when they scooped up their man.
