A 19-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle rollover near Blackfalds last weekend that involved eight other people.

Nine people were in a crew cab truck when the driver lost control on Milton Road, west of Hwy 815. The truck rolled onto the roof at just after 4 a.m.

Lacombe EMS and the Clive Fire Department were already on scene attending to a 19-year-old male who was pinned in the vehicle when Blackfalds RCMP arrived.

The male was seriously injured and later died. His name is not being released by police at this time.

The other eight people travelling in the truck were uninjured, according to RCMP.

Staff Sgt. Ken Morrison of the Blackfalds detachment said, to his knowledge, all of the passengers were inside the truck at the time of the rollover, which police say was partially caused by weather conditions and use of alcohol.

Morrison could not comment on the number of seatbelts in the vehicle, or whether they were worn, saying the matter is still under investigation.
