A tournament featuring the top under 16 male hockey prospects in Western Canada has been cancelled because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The WHL Cup, with players from B.C., Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, usually takes place in October, once the WHL season is underway.
The round-robin tournament is typically the first step in the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence and helps the organization evaluate top prospects in their age-group.
According to the press release, the WHL is optimistic that the 2021 WHL Cup may be held in the fall of 2021.
