A group of local female gun enthusiasts will come together next month for the third annual Ladies’ Range Day.

On Aug. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., women from across Alberta are invited to attend sessions throughout the day to discuss firearms, with a focus on safety, at the Red Deer Fish and Game Association outdoor gun range.

There will be information sessions on shotguns, and attendees will also have an opportunity to shoot a variety of handguns, pistols and rifles, as well as try their hand at archery.

Hunting and fishing pro Lisa Roper will be on hand, as well as Shelly Reddon, who is a Canadian firearms instructor known as “The Gun Girl.”

Volunteers will be dedicating their time to provide knowledge, experience and expertise, according to organizers.

There will also be draws, guest speakers, a door prize and lunch will be provided.
