Alberta reported another 43 COVID-related deaths, including three in Central Zone over the past week, according to the most recently available public data.
There have now been 5,351 COVID-19-related deaths in the province since the outset of the pandemic.
In the weekly update on the Government of Alberta’s website, the province reported 926 cases between Dec. 13 and Dec. 19. There are 910 people in hospital, down 82 from the previous week, including 33 in the ICU, up one from the previous week.
In the Central Zone, there are 89 people in hospital infected with the virus, with seven in the ICU.
According to geospatial mapping on the provincial government’s COVID-19 website, the Central zone has a seven-day new case rate of 27.5 per 100,000, above the provincial average of 21. There were 131 new cases over the past seven days in the zone. There have been 63,675 total cases in the region, with 688 COVID-19-related deaths.
Calgary had 20.1 cases per 100,000 over the past seven days, while Edmonton has 21.7. The South zone sits at 20.2 and the North zone is 15.2.
