486 COVID-19 patients in hospital

5,619 Alberta deaths since pandemic started

There have now been 5,619 COVID-19-related deaths in the province since the start of the pandemic, according to new data released by the provincial government.

The province reported 388 new cases between Match 7-13. There are 486 people in hospital infected with COVID-19, including 11 in the ICU.

The Central Zone has 45 people in hospital with COVID-19, including three in intensive care.

According to geospatial mapping on the provincial government’s COVID-19 website, the Central zone has a seven-day new case rate of 11.5 per 100,000, above the provincial average of 8.8. There were 55 new cases over the past seven days in the zone. There have been 64,702 total cases in the region, with 732 COVID-19-related deaths.

Calgary had 7.3 cases per 100,000 over the past seven days, while Edmonton has 9.3. The South Zone sits at 6.1 and the North Zone is 10.4.
