First Friday art receptions to be held

An array of First Friday art exhibit receptions are being planned throughout Red Deer on Sept. 3.

A diverse group exhibit featuring Jim Westergard, Susan Delaney, Paula Sommers, Trent Leach, andrea-dillingham-lacoursiere, Brenda J Smith, Barb Hanson, Karen Brodie, Linda Sommers, Charity Briere, Karyn Doedel, Dennis Moffat, Eden Woodward is on at the Herons Nest Gallery, 634 49 St. in Red Deer. There will be a First Friday reception on Sept. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Rock of Ages, a mixed media exhibit by Marianne Harris, is on at the Kiwanis Gallery , operated by the Red Deer Arts Council. The gallery in the Red Deer Public Library will have a First Friday reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Julia Roth is showing her mixed-media works at The Velvet Olive Lounge for the month of September. The artist will be attending a First Friday reception from 5 to 7 p.m.

The Nature of Trees exhibit is showing at the Marjorie Wood Gallery in the Kerry Wood Nature Centre. Artist Lynn LeCorre will attend a Friday reception from 4 to 6 p.m

Gypsy Boho Macrame by artist Laura Frederick can be seen at A + Art Gallery & Unique Collections, Unit 203, 4919-49th Street all month long. And opening reception is on Friday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Red Deerians can get a sneak peek at the new exhibit about World War and women at the Red Deer Museum and Art Gallery Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

A Fibre Arts Showcase by artist Margaret Blank is showing at Curiosity Art & Framing, Unit 4 – 4676-61 St., in Riverside Industrial until the end of October.

Imagery Comparison a display from members of Central Alberta Photographic Society is on at the Corridor Community Gallery in the lower level of Recreation Centre. The show’s on until Sept. 30.

Our Daily Bread, by artists Erin Boake and Marnie Blair is on at the Viewpoint Gallery, Arts & Culture Services, 5205 48 Ave. until Sept. 4.
