A one-day addictions recovery summit called Embracing Recovery Together will be held next week in Red Deer.

The City of Red Deer, with support from the Government of Alberta, is hosting the event on Wednesday, Oct. 4 to “build an understanding of what a Recovery OrientedSystem of Care is, and what implementation can look like for Red Deer.”

Anyone interested from businesses, not-for-profits, government, and members of the public, are invited to attend to “learn, grow, build and start a journey towards recovery” — a word that can have various meanings in various contexts.

The City of Red Deer is referring to a coordinated response; “helping individuals maintain forward momentum toward better wellnessand fulfillment, across all dimensions of their life – physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually andculturally.”

The conference will run from 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Westerner Park’s Prairie Pavilion (4847A 19th Street), featuring Mayor Ken Johnston and a variety of speakers.
