Agri-Trade Equipment Expo generates big economic impact

The Agri-Trade Equipment Expo generated $250 million in direct equipment sales and about $60 million in tourism spending to the central Alberta region, say organizers.

The annual event was hosted at Westerner Park last weekend and featured a sold-out exhibit space with more than 475 booths.

“Agri-Trade brings visitors from across the globe to Alberta, and the economic impact that this event has on the province’s economy is truly beneficial to all Albertans,” said Krissy Fiddler, show operations manager.

Fiddler said you could “hear the buzz of networking” throughout Westerner Park.

“Agri-Trade is back post pandemic, stronger than ever and we are proud to be able to provide exhibitors and attendees the location to conduct business,” said Fiddler.

Rod Bradshaw, chairman of the industry advisory committee, said this year’s event featured attendees from throughout Alberta and North America, as well an international contingent.

“In addition to our Canadian visitors we had registered buyers from Ireland, Italy, Germany, Russia, Scotland, South Africa, Kenya, the United States and Mexico. We also had exhibitors from Germany, Hungary and the United States,” Bradshaw noted.

Since 1984 Agri-Trade has been a joint venture of the Red Deer and District Chamber of Commerce and Westerner Park. The next Agri-Trade Equipment Expo is set for Nov. 8-10, 2023.
