Alberta Health Services is making changes to its outpatient laboratory at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.

Starting on Dec. 14, the outpatient lab will be restricted to serving patients of the hospital’s ambulatory clinics, as well as patients who are immunocompromised or who have been referred by their physician for specialized lab testing.

According to an AHS release, the goal is required to reduce patient traffic from the community.

Anyone require blood work or other community lab services will need to go to the Elements at RiversEdge facility at 5002 55 Street. Walk-ins are available at that facility, but patients are strongly encouraged to book an appointment to help limit the spread of COVID-19.
