After a six-month pilot, Alberta RCMP has ended its online criminal record check program.
According to a release, although the online tool is valuable, “the platform model used became a complex undertaking for 12 detachments and it would not have been able to be efficiently expanded throughout the province”.
RCMP said the pilot program was still useful because it helped provide a number of technical and logistical insights that will prove useful for future tool development– when the Alberta RCMP explores similar options in the future for a more user-friendly platform.
