High Schoolers across Alberta will get a chance to compete against one another this spring – albeit virtually.

The Alberta Schools Athletic Association announced Wednesday they would be holding a virtual Track and Field challenge for all junior and senior high school students.

Kids, along with coaches and mascots, are submitting their best performances in running, jumping, and throwing events from the comfort and safety of their local field or backyard.

Students will use their Athletic.net website and app to log their results and see how well their competitors are doing.

There are also categories for para-athletes and Special Olympics Unified Sports teams. Prizes will be awarded to schools with the highest percentage of students participating.

The challenge started on May 15 and goes until June 5.
