Alberta NDP raises more than $1 million in Q1

The Alberta NDP out-fundraised all other parties in the province in the first quarter of 2021.

New financial reporting from Elections Alberta released Friday shows the NDP raised nearly $1.2 million in the first quarter of 2021, while the United Conservative Party raised a little more than $591,000.

“I want to thank all the Albertans who made a choice to invest in their future and to bring their voices into Alberta’s Government,” said NDP Leader Rachel Notley in a press release.

“We are just getting started. We have so much work to do to create jobs, diversify the economy, support public healthcare and education, and more.”

The NDP said that of the 13,700 donors in the first quarter that contributed, about 2,600 were first-time donors.

“We have momentum and we are so humbled to see the support from so many people as we work to build Alberta’s future,” Notley said.

The Alberta Party earned $48,194, the Wildrose Independence Party picked up $36,883 and the the Alberta Liberal parted netted $31,798.
