The Alberta RCMP had a busy Heritage Day long weekend.
Between Friday and Monday, the RCMP issued 2,559 traffic tickets and 420 warnings across the province.
Overall, 1,972 individuals were ticketed for speeding, with 34 people charged for impaired driving and six people receiving roadside suspensions.
RCMP said they recorded 26 per cent more roadway offences compared to the same period in 2019.
They also charged 10 drivers with travelling at excessive speeds (51 km/h or more over the posted limit).
One driver on Highway 1 near Brooks was clocked at 195 km/h in a 110 km/h zone. Another, near Lake Lousie, was travelling 152 km/h in a 90 km/h zone.
